Freeze-Dried Chicken Treats: Just One Ingredient, For Real?

The brand sent me these treats. This post contains affiliate links, and I may earn a commission if you purchase through them. My opinions are my own.

Flip over most treat bags and you’ll find a long list of things you can’t quite place — this one has exactly one ingredient.

If you want a genuinely simple treat for cats or dogs, this is worth it — chicken, nothing else. The tradeoff is single-ingredient treats are typically pricier per ounce than filler-heavy options, which is the cost of having no fillers at all.

What I Noticed

The brand sent this to me, and Yankee was genuinely interested in it on camera. The ingredient list is just chicken — nothing else, no fillers, no additives, no preservatives. Freeze-drying preserves the natural flavor and protein, and it works as a training reward, a snack on its own, or crumbled over food as a topper.

What Makes These Treats Different

  • Single ingredient — just chicken, nothing added
  • Grain-free — no fillers, additives, or preservatives
  • Works for both cats and dogs
  • Versatile use — training reward, snack, or food topper
The catch is price per ounce — single-ingredient, no-filler treats generally cost more than treats padded with cheaper ingredients. That’s the tradeoff for a genuinely simple ingredient list, not a flaw with this product specifically.

Treat Questions

Does this work for cats too, not just dogs?
Yes — Yankee, one of our cats, was genuinely interested in it, and it’s formulated for both species.

Can I use this as a food topper?
Yes — crumble it over regular food for pets that get bored with the same meal, or use it as a standalone training reward.

What else is worth comparing for treats? The sweet potato and chicken chews I reviewed offer more of a real chew texture.
